Regulations

IMPORTANT: It is responsibility of every runner to know and respect all rules for the event. At the same time, every runner must be medically fit to participate in an event with the characteristics of the Q50 RACES and to get the proper medical exams to make sure. All the information will be available on the official web site, so everyone will be able to familiarize with the characteristics of the distance, altitude, etcDon’t hesitate in contacting us if you have any questions about this. 1. MANDATORY EQUIPMENT

This elements will be asked the runners to carry all the time and with no exceptions. This is for safety reasons and the lack of any of this elements will cause the disqualification of the participant.

  • Camelback, waterbottle or hand held bottle to carry water or/and electrolytes. In this kind of events, hydration is vital for the well development of the race. Each runner is responsible of carrying the necessary to guaranty their well hydration and food ingest, between the check points. Aid stations every 10K aprox.
  • Race bib with number: Every runner must wear the number given by the organization in a visible place all throughout the race.
  • Whistle
  • Headlamp (for 80K runnners only)

2. TIME LIMITS AND CUT OFF

a) For 80K Ultra: The time limit for Q50 RACES 80K Ultra is 14 HOURS. There will also be two cut off times. In other word, this means that if the runner doesn’t reach that point before this time, he or she wont be able to continue at the race.

  • 1st cut off is at Km 40, in Rancho El Jabalin, at 15:00 hs.
  • 2nd cut off is at Km 60, at 17:00 hs. The runners who stays at this point will be driven to the finish line by our staff.
  • The limit time for crossing the finish line is at 20:00 hs.

The time limits established by the organization (cut-off times) are not negotiable. b) For 40K Marathon Trail: The time limit for Q50 RACES 40K Marathon Trail is 7 HORAS. There will also be two cut off times. In other word, this means that if the runner doesn’t reach that point before this time, he or she wont be able to continue at the race.

  • 1st cut off is at A.S (aid station) of Km 20, at 13:00 hs.
  • 1st cut off is at A.S (aid station) of Km 30, at 15:00 hs.
  • The limit time for crossing the finish line is at 16:00 hs.

3. ORGANIZATION

Q50 RACES organizes and invites to this trail race taking place in Oaxaca, Mexico on July 14, 2013. The event organizers reserve the right to modify or cancel part or all of the course of the race if required to do so for security reasons.

4. GENERAL INFORMATION

Q50 RACES is a mountain trail runnug race which longest distance has 80 kilometers taking place in Oaxaca, Mexico and about 1750 meters of elevation gain. Begins on July 14th, 2013 at 6:00 pm with a maximum duration of 14 hours.

5. PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS

It is obligatory for the athletes to have the mandatory equipment with them, for the full duration of the race. It is also important to have experience in mountain running races and have the proper equipment (clothing and footwear, thermal blanket, sunglasses, etc.).

6. REGISTRATION

Registration of participants will be open from January 1, 2013 until July 7. NO EXCEPTIONS. Registration of participants will only be made online and this website. Participants requiring assistance to complete your registration may approach our service centers to register. In these places, ONLY receive assistance, do not accept cash payments. a) Application fee. Registration does not guarantee attendance. Once the payment you will receive confirmation of your registration. The registration fee can be made online via Pay Pal at time of registration or by deposit or bank transfer (see all these details in the “registration”). Registration includes:

  1. Race bib number
  2. T-shirt of the event
  3. Right to get a medal for FINALISTS ONLY

7. NUMBER OF RUNNERS

The maximum number of runners in each distance is as follows:

  • 16K Fun run: 200 runners
  • Marathon 40K Trail: 150 runners
  • 80K Ultra: 150 runners

Entries are subject to the closing date of registration or to complete the maximum number of runners. a) CANCELLATIONShould the race be cancelled because of circumstances beyond our control, the registration fee shall be held over till 2013; alternatively, 60% of the fees paid may be reimbursed. Should any of the athletes be unable to participate in the race, a reimbursement of 60% shall be made if the cancellation arrives before March 1, 2013. After this date, no reimbursement shall be made.

8. ENVIRONMENT

Q50 RACES is a friendly race environment. Any runner who leaves trash or damage the environment will be disqualified. There will be no cups in aid stations in order not to create unnecessary waste. You’ll run in areas where nature offer all its beauty, do not leave any trace behind. Each runner must carry out their trash (gel wrappers, paper, etc.) and deposit in a container in the proper places. The runner who litters on the road during the race will be disqualified.

9. HEALTH AND SAFETY

Ambulances, doctors and staff will be available during the course to assist participants. All assistance must be assisted only by paramedics, authorized staff or organizers. Runners must pay their own medical expenses in case of medical emergency. As with all competitions of this kind, are advised to purchase medical and travel insurance for any eventuality.

10. ASSISTANCE TO RUNNERS AND PACERS

Accompanying family and friends may attend ONLY in the designated points during the course. Pacers are not allowed. For safety reasons, vehicles are not permitted other than those of the organization in the course. The organization will have people who will be checking the course the respond to any eventuallity. In case of an emergency the runners have to inform these people or the next check point.

11. CHECK POINTS (PC’S)

The course includes to pass through several checkpoints that can be canceled or modified at any time by the race director. The check point are arranged along the route, some of them are also aid stations but not necessarily. There is always people of our staff in these. The CP’s will be reported in the technical meeting(Saturday July 13, 2013 at 19:30hs).

12. TECHNICAL MEETING

There will be a mandatory meeting the day before the event which will explain and give details about the race. Each runner is responsible for attending to it. At the meeting prior to competition (whose attendance is very recommended) will be provided detailed information of the course and regulations.

13. DROP BAGS

Runners may deliver to the organization, at the start, a bag with items that could be needed and will be useful to have available at km 40 and the arrival of the circuit. THIS BAG MUST BE CLEARLY MARKED WITH THE NUMBER OF RUNNERS AND CLOSED. The These bags will be available at a point 40 km for each runner. Please avoid putting items of value in the drop bags. Although there will be staff of Q50 RACES taking care of them, the organization will not be responsible for any loss or damage to the contents of any bags. For the circuit characteristics of this edition, the organization will not transport runner bags and will only accept one bag per runner. We will not accept drop bags that are not clearly identified with the number and closed.

14. DISQUALIFICATION CAUSES

  1. Taking shortcuts.
  2. No sign up at checkpoints
  3. Receive any assistance by anyone other than the organization. The only assistance for people outside the organization, may be carried out at the aid stations that will be described below.
  4. Take a ride on any type of vehicle.
  5. Litering or leaving waste of any kind in the path outside the points of hydration in which there will be containers for this purpose.
  6. Do not give aid to another runner who is in trouble
  7. Insulting members of staff, volunteers, organizers or other competitors.
  8. Refusing to show the mandatory gear when required by the staff.

15. QUITTING Any runner who decides to quit the race, by own desicion, may do so only at the checkpoints (PC) or aid stations (PA) and is obliged to notify the staff of the race (giving name, race number and telephone contact).

16. WEATHER

In case of having an adverse climate the organization of the event reserves the right to make changes at the last moment or during the event in order to eliminate any risk for competitors. These changes will be informed by the staff . The organization also has the right to suspend, delay or cancel the race due to weather that could put participants or staff in danger. 17. AID STATIONS (A.S.)

About every 10 kilometers of our staff will be attending aid stations with water, food and supplements (re-hydrating drinks, electrolytes, gels, energy bars, etc. ..)

18. PRIZES

There is no prize money. Runners who complete the course within the limit time will receive a finalist medal.

19. RIGHTS OF IMAGE USE

On registration, the competitors authorise the organisation to freely use any images, whether still or in movement, with no territorial or time limits, that depict the athlete during his/her participation in Q50 RACES

20. WAIVER OF RESPONSIBILITY

Voluntary registration and subsequent participation in the race indicates full acceptance of the race rules and any eventual changes they may have to undergo. By registering, the participant exempts the organisers from any liability, whether civil or criminal, for damage to persons and/or property caused by or to him/her.
